Association of privately-owned live music venues in the Basque Country whose primary goal is to gain institutional and public recognition of the role these venues play in culture as well as the music industry and tourism.
The Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera is a key actor on the Basque and Spanish cultural scene and an outstanding international player, with a solid programme of activities that vies with the world´s greatest theatres.
The music festival that used to be held on Mount Igeldo in San Sebastian now takes place at the Lasarte hippodrome. Although originally the focus was on indie music, the festival is now leaning toward urban music.
San Sebastian´s conference centre and auditorium hosts cultural activities as well as events of international calibre and local interest. The Kursaal and the Victoria Eugenia Theatre are the city´s two main performance venues in the city.
The Musical Fortnight of San Sebastian (Donostiako Musika Hamabostaldia - Quincena Musical de San Sebatián) was created in 1939 by the city´s hotelkeepers and merchants to enhance the summer entertainment offer. Today the festival boasts a complete programme of classical music at the Kursaal auditorium and Victoria Eugenia theatre.
